Season's Greetings

Date: 15th Dec 2017 @ 2:09pm

Finally, after a very long and cold term, the countdown to Christmas is almost over. In S4YC we have made the most of December and got into the Christmas spirit from day one by embracing all the lovely crafts and traditions Christmas brings with it.

We started our Christmas countdown by making advent calendars and cards and have also enjoyed making angels, jingle bell bracelets, decorative baubles and reindeer cards, as well as joining in with games of Elfie snap and decorating the hall with paper chains.

Not only have we enjoyed traditions observed in the UK but have also explored Christmas traditions in other countries.

One of our most popular activities has been making scrummy mince pies (allowing the juniors to try out their very own new cooker).  We look forward to making good use of the cooker in the new year.

Christmas has come early for the infants with a ‘Secret Santa’ delivering a new basketball net and a number of Barbie toys.  There will be a number of changes in the new year for the juniors so we anticipate a few new resources for them too.

Our preschool children have settled in so well it is hard to believe they have only really just joined us a few months ago. Infant after school and seedlings have established a really good working relationship and, having worked through a few logistical ‘problems’ we are utilising the seedlings room (and staff!) both before and after school allowing our younger children to access more age appropriate resources and activities from 8am – start of school and between end of school and snack time at 4.30pm. A very busy hall on a Wednesday (due to the ever popular gymnastics sessions) has meant that reception children have also had the opportunity to sneak into the seedlings room and join in the fun too!!

Due to the freezing weather conditions and dark nights over the past couple of weeks we have run all our sport’s courses indoors. This has resulted in more of our after school children joining in so we expect our infant sports clubs to be busy in the new year as a result. To book your child onto next term’s infant sports courses you will need to follow the instructions on our website and book/pay for your child’s place online via the Bookings section. We look forward to using the online system for ALL our bookings (including breakfast and after school) in the new year. Don't worry though, you will be given plenty of notice before this takes place.

Club will remain open until the last day of term with next Thursday’s afterschool session starting at 2pm when school closes for the holidays. We have explored a number of options where opening a club in the Christmas holiday is concerned but it just isn't viable and we also feel it important that our staff recharge their batteries so they are at their best ready for a new year full of fun and mayhem in 2018 - sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

As this is our last blog of 2017 all that is left is to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!!
