Love and Friendship 2017

Date: 20th Feb 2017 @ 2:05pm

Over the last couple of weeks we have been exploring the themes of love and friendship. Children in S4YC have engaged in a number of games and activities including group discussions on what it is to be a good friend.

The infants started the fortnight by making friendship bracelets so not only did they learn a new skill whilst making the bracelets but they also learnt about how kind it is to make something special and then give it away.

They continued the theme by making some beautiful love birds from card, pipe cleaners and feathers towards the end of the week.

During Valentine week both the infants and juniors made some very special love heart cupcakes using butter cream and sugar embellishments as well as love hearts.

On Wednesday children made Cupid’s arrows before finishing the week with heartfelt pencil toppers and beautiful cards.

Due to a number of unavoidable room changes the children have had to adapt and use other spaces within school but they have, as is always the case, done this without a fuss and behaved well on each occasion. They have taken each room change as an opportunity to play outdoors, make dens and engage in free play whilst the halls are eventually set up for club use.

One of our favourite times of the week is fast becoming Wednesday morning before toddler group where the infant children have been enjoying a sing-a-long before school whilst the hall is set up for the little ones.

Due to half term being a week late this year there was a bit of confusion with the sports clubs, so we started our second half of the term a week early!! Despite any confusion both football and gymnastics was extremely well attended this week as both clubs continue to go from strength to strength.
