19th - 23rd December 2016

Date: 23rd Dec 2016 @ 10:20am

And so here we are, after an extremely long Autumn term the Christmas holiday has finally arrived.  As you can imagine, the children have been extremely excited this week and to top it off school has kindly filled them with sugar as they have partied through the week but, despite this, they have behaved particularly well in club (possibly because Santa is watching) and I believe that all of them have made it onto Santa's 'nice' list!!

The infants started the week off by making some Christmas crackers - children especially keen to make crackers for 'family and friends' once they realised there were sweets involved!!

On Tuesday several of our children decorated some Christmas baubles (apologies to parents of the children that decorated more of themselves than their bauble!) and on Wednesday Claire and Cheryl kept a very tight ship as pretty much all of the infant club joined an S4YC mince pie production line.

On Thursday infant children joined in with an Elf on the Shelf activity before getting stuck into yet more party food and taking part in a number of party games including the obligatory pass the parcel.

The juniors have had an equally busy week making Christmas wish wands, Christmas cards, cone nativity characters and felt Christmas stockings.

With the help of their favourite Christmas songs, the juniors have really got into the spirit of Christmas this year rounding up the week with a little Christmas party of their own on Thursday evening thanks to some yummy donations from one of our generous parents!!

We gained a few extra children this week when our sports clubs finished a week earlier than parents expected but it was lovely to welcome some new faces into afterschool club and they were more than happy to stay and have a drink and a biscuit and join in with some fun activities before heading home.  We welcome our reception children to join in with football and gymnastics as we start the new year so please do make sure they are signed up for the beginning of term if you wish them to take part.  Toddler group also starts afresh on the 11th January so spread the word.  We are thrilled with how successful and enjoyable the sessions have become for both the toddlers and the parents - our newly names 'Adult Art Therapy' table proving to be a big success!!

All clubs are now closed for the holiday period - Woodlands S4YC re-opening on 10th January.  If you do want to email me with any messages or January bookings etc I will be checking my emails from time to time but you may not get a reply until the new year as I am making every effort to enjoy a bit of time off myself.  That leaves me with nothing more to say other than have a very happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!!
