Summer Term

Date: 19th Apr 2018 @ 6:57am

Welcome back after a somewhat soggy Easter break! Despite the weather, we have enjoyed an extremely busy holiday club here at Woodlands and even managed to get children outside from time to time (apologies to those of you that had the job of washing down your children after some unfortunate muddy moments!) With Easter already being and gone before holiday club began, we touched on a bunny theme for week 1 - Peter Rabbit being our theme of choice.  A number of children enjoyed taking part in the themed arts and crafts which include ... character masks and puppets, carrot toppers, planting cress seed in Mr McGregor’s garden, making some scrumptious carrot cupcakes (a favourite with all the children) and bunny buts!!

In week 2 went onto celebrate another popular current film - Coco with a number of inspirational crafts such sugar skull masks and dolls, mirrors, Dante kites, guitars, bracelets, nightlights and slinky skeletons.

As well as arts and crafts, children enjoyed much time doing what they do best - playing freely! As well as muddy outdoor play, children had the option of using the ICT suite, watching films, baking and playing imaginatively with new friends. We were also fortunate to have our sports coaches with us in week 2 which, despite the weather was a welcome addition as children spent time both indoors and out (depending on what the weather was doing) participating in football and dodgeball.

As we enter into a new term we embark on a new booking system (which will become second nature in time) but I urge you to register and familiarise yourself with the system even if it something you won’t be using immediately. ALL bookings will be via the online booking system from now on. If you have any queries or concerns please contact Marc Sewell - marc@s4yc.co.uk   I expect that there will be a few issues as we are transitioning but we will do our best to resolve any problems as soon as possible.
