October 2017

Date: 19th Oct 2017 @ 1:01pm

With just one week left until half term and the beginning of November we have been making the most of our Autumn themed activities before Winter is upon us.

Last week both infants and juniors made Autumn crowns, cards, hedgehogs and Autumn inspired window art. We even managed to find the time to make some individual seasonal apple crumbles to take home.

This week we have taken a break from the Autumn crafts and concentrated on Diwali whilst creating some traditional Diwali cards and decorations as well making some beautiful tea light creations.

Due to some recent staffing changes, I have been spending a lot more time with the juniors after school so have taken the opportunity to find out how they would like to spend their time. On Monday we decided to take the plunge and make several batches of our very own slime (a big hit with all the children) and plan to do something scientific and gooey on a weekly basis if possible.

We spent much of Thursday creating various things out of scoobies and next week hope to get stuck into a spot of baking, again, something the children love to take part in. We have some extremely creative and talented children in club so look forward to the arrival of some large canvases, paints and clay to keep everyone busy when the nights start drawing in and outdoor play isn't an option.

Don't forget to book your child's place on the October holiday club play scheme.  Due to essential maintenance Woodlands club will be moving to Whitby Heath for the October break.  All reception, yr 1 and yr 2 children will need to be booked on via our ipal booking system.  Follow the link for more details:
