Happy Christmas!!

It wouldn't be right to finish for the Christmas hols without giving you a little update as to what we have been up to in club.  December is always a funny month - whilst children have had plenty of Christmassy activities to focus on, the mix of being tired and excited, whilst also spending numerous afternoons rehearsing for their Christmas productions has had a bit of a knock-on effect, so it is has been really important that children have had the opportunity to wind down in after school.  It's fair to say that we are all ready for a couple of weeks off but what a fun and busy December it has been.

We made our very own advent calendar this year, a giant tree with wooden ornaments and chocolate coins.  I have to admit I am amazed that only 1 chocolate coin left the calendar before it's time, so it seems that children do have an element of restraint ... sometimes!!  As well as our advent tree, we also had a squishy axolotl calendar which proved to be a big hit with all of the children.  Sadly, our Christmas elf was unable to join us for the majority of December after falling off the shelf and succumbing to a terrible injury.  You'll be glad to know that he is almost fully recovered - such a shame that he has missed the Christmas build up??!!

Children embraced Christmas Jumper Day (a day early to coincide with Christmas Dinner!!) and thoroughly enjoyed designing some Christmas jumpers of their very own at the art and craft table.  Following this, we celebrated Elf day, made angels and gingerbread houses, wrote to Santa, made Rocky Road and decorated some Christmas cupcakes ...

Where possible, we have still managed to get outside for a bit of fresh air, but the weather has not always been on our side.  Children have enjoyed having the opportunity to spend some time playing Wii Sports on some of the more dismal days.

Once again, we have to applaud the children for adapting to being over in preschool from time to time.  Obviously, it isn't ideal but they always seem to find something to do to keep themselves entertained (and have become accustomed to getting a custard cream by way of an apology before heading over!)

As you will be aware, we have used the Christmas build up as a bit of a fundraising opportunity.  Many thanks to everyone who had a go at guessing the names of our snowman and reindeer, and well done to everyone who designed a Christmas card. We have managed to raise £90 which will go straight back to resourcing club in the new year.

So, all that is left to say is Happy Christmas and all the Best for the coming New Year. See you in 2025!!!
