Goodbye April, Hello May!!

Date: 30th Apr 2017 @ 3:46pm

It has been a while since our last blog and quite a lot has happened since then. We have had a very successful Easter holiday club (with guests from a number of schools) and, despite there being a number of ‘obstacles’ such as decorating the new 'Seedlings' preschool, toilets being fitted, a spot of landscaping and new reception area we managed to adapt and work round all the renovations going on around us. Thank you all for your patience!! As expected, the holiday club was based on the Easter/Springtime theme and children took part in a number of different art and craft activities as well as participating in outdoor play, sports, baking and the obligatory Easter egg hunt. We also enjoyed a number of musical sessions where we raided the music store to unearth some hidden musical talent amongst us.

We started back where we left off on our first day back with a very successful toddler group and a well attended gymnastics session on the Wednesday. Football was equally well attended on Monday. Children have been working their way through an abundance of left over resources from previous months whilst I prepare a selection of new activities for May. We are extremely impressed by some of the creations made by our children – their imagination never ceases to amaze us all.

Children have also enjoyed plenty of outdoor play, even if it has meant getting a tad messy with the outdoor chalk...

We have continued to build on the musical talents we discovered during holiday club and have been encouraging children to try out some new instruments. Not only have children been enjoying S4YCs Got Talent on a Wednesday morning but they have also had access to a number of percussion instruments, the piano, a couple of guitars and a trumpet and we are taken aback by the natural talent we have in club at such a young age.

Like the infants, junior children have also been creating a number of masterpieces making use of left over resources.

They have also enjoyed some sporting activities and have put in a request for a number of gymnastic equipment such as hoops and ribbons etc.  Sadly their request for a trampoline, bouncy castle and bungee ropes were declined (due to a lack of space!) but I will do my best to purchase the other items over the next couple of weeks  .

As you are aware, we launched a competition several weeks ago to design a springtime card to raise money for Autism Together. We are thrilled to say we have now chosen 3 winning designs from the numerous designs that were entered. I truly believe that all designs were worthy of winning the competition hence why cards have been made using each and every design and will continue to be sold at club for as long as we have cards to sell.

Congratulations go to Louis Chapman, Lily Blamire and Lucy Wagner for their winning entries. We will be presenting our budding artists with their prizes within the next couple of weeks and look forward to presenting the Autism Together charity with over £130 of funds raised so far.

After a busy Easter Holiday, we are already taking bookings for the Whit half term (you will find booking forms to download on our holiday clubs webpage and I have also put forms in with the May invoices so please return them to us as soon as possible to secure your child’s place).
