After a week off to recharge our batteries it hasn't taken us long to get back into the swing of things (even if most of us were exhausted by the end of Tuesday!!)  Luckily we have returned to a 4 day school week so should be back to normal by next week.  There have been quite a few things going on in the halls this week but, in true S4YC fashion, the children adapted quickly to the changes and were even able to work alongside the photographers on Tuesday night and use half the hall thanks to the excellent behaviour of the infant children.  We are so proud at how they are learning to follow instructions and stick to the different boundaries we put in place from day to day.

The juniors have also been adapting to last minute changes and making the best of the spaces available to them each day.  With the nights drawing in and outside becoming more and more limited the junior staff have made changes to the set up of the hall space to enable children to take part in sporting activities alongside the normal arts and crafts.  This week alone children have taken part in crab football, dodgeball and hockey.

The main themes for this week have been bonfire night and remembrance day so we have found ourselves knee high in tinsel, glitter, and all things sparkly, as well as an abundance of red tissue paper and felt.

Children began the week by recreating some of the fireworks and sparklers they saw over the weekend then moved on to create a number of poppy related crafts prompting some to talk about family members who are currently in the forces so this week has been quite poignant for children and staff alike.  The infants have also been making use of some of the left over craft activities after half term creating a beautiful fabric banner to hang in the preschool room which inspired them to create a poppy banner during holiday club on Friday.

As we look forward to our first Christmas in our fully furnished preschool room, we are hoping to make the most of the space by re-creating Santa's workshop and would love to decorate the room with all kinds of Christmas decorations.  If you happen to have any to spare we would be happy to take them off your hands.

Looking even further ahead into January we are considering running a couple of days holiday club before the new term starts.  As soon as this is confirmed we will pass all the details to you but do let us know if you would benefit from this provision as it is likely to be subject to requirements and will not go ahead unless there is a demand for it.
