We have had a very mixed couple of weeks at S4YC as we prepare for some big changes – especially on the infant side. With the opening of the new Seedlings preschool after Easter we have had to say goodbye to our back room and outdoor area and find other ways to accommodate our ever growing club. We are, however, extremely excited to invite the seedlings to Woodlands and are looking forward to the new partnership that lies ahead.

We have been a little bit up against it as essential maintenance takes place but, once again, the children have been amazing and have adapted to a few temporary changes whilst work on the back room takes place (even if it has proved a little stressful for the staff at times). We were also very lucky to have a visit from the Easter bunny who braved the torrential rain to put a smile on everyone’s faces.

The juniors have been especially creative over the last couple of weeks.  Not only have they braved the cooker to make jam tarts but they have the girls have also enjoyed using the outdoor stage to develop their love of creative dance whilst the boys have worked on their lego building skills.

Towards the end of the week, the infants worked extremely hard creating various cards and other imaginative crafts ready for Mothering Sunday.

Even the red noses didn't get in the way of the juniors as they too created some beautiful cards and gifts for their mums.

Springtime and Easter has been the theme of this last week with children getting very creative with a range of materials and resources. We have made felt daffodils, bracelets, feathered friends, puppets, cards and the obligatory chocolate crispie cake nests (it wouldn’t be Easter without them). Friday saw children participate in an Easter egg hunt just in time for the end of term.

As well been busy creating, we are proud to have had a number of Easter/Springtime cards for sale in club in the hoping of raising even more money for our 'Autism Together' fundraiser.  Those who entered the competition will hear after the holidays if they have won one of our wonderful prizes but we felt that every child did so well that all entries have been made into cards to sell over the next few weeks.  Please do pop into club to take a look and help us raise more money for this worthwhile cause.

S4YC will continue to run holiday club over the next 2 weeks and continue with an Easter/Springtime theme so there will be eggs, chicks and bunnies galore!!

If we aren’t due to see you over the next 2 weeks let me take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy Easter!!
