16th - 20th January 2017

Date: 20th Jan 2017 @ 6:28am

Despite the lack of snow, we have managed to create our own bit of Winter this week through a number of activities.  We made our very own snowflakes using a number of intricate cutting patterns, decorated mittens and even sticthed some lovely felt mittens requiring very little help from the grown ups.

Our favourite activity has to be the snow globes we made on Wednesday afternoon using paper plates, acetate, sequins, 'snow', snowman stickers and several rolls of double sided sticky tape!! By Thursday we opted for a less messy activity as children quietly sat down to make some beautiful snowflake bracelets.

In order to cheer us all up after what can only be described weatherwise as a very damp and dreary week, children joined in with a cheery musical session with Miss Rogers.  The children were so taken with the activity that they continued to play the instruments for the entirety of the afterschool session - thanks for that Miss Rogers...???!!!

Our infant football sessions started on Monday with the addition of a number of extremely keen reception children. If your child is already in afterschool club on Monday and wishes to take part they will need to bring outdoor PE clothes with them as it is likely to still be very cold and very muddy for the next few weeks.  We were also thrilled with the number of children taking part in the Wednesday gymnastic sessions and hope the popularity of these clubs will continue throughout the coming months.

Our junior children chose to continue with the new year theme this week.  Having already made a number of interesting resolutions they also made some beautiful new year hats.

The weather has put a few restrictions on the junior club but they have braved the weather wherever possible and have started to make the most of the hall space by not only playing sport but by creating some interesting group games and entertaining each other with their musical talents.

Don't forget to book your child in for February half term holiday club.  Our theme this year is likely to be loosely based around love and friendship but, as always, there will be a number of age appropriate activities including sports, games and ICT on offer throughout the week.
